Based on real cases, the drama tells how a multinational drug cartel teams up with local criminals in Dongshan in order to build a large scale underground methamphetamine factory under the protection of corrupt local government officials. A team of unfearful officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau, Team Leader Li Wei Min (Wu Gang), his son Li Fei (Johnny Huang) and others, set out to cripple the drug cartel in the special operation “The Thunder”.
In order to uncover a huge telecommunications fraud case, the former deputy team leader of the criminal police Kuang Zhong (Guo Xiao Dong), Ma Sai (Xu Yue), Zhu Xi Ning (Wang Qian) and others form an emergency team. They will spare no efforts to fight against the crime syndicate and protect the people’s assets.
The story follows a racing genius (Elvis Han) who goes against his father’s wishes and participates in the black market of car racing, hoping to prove his talents. During his journey he meets friends and rivals, and a love interest in international student played by Xu Lu. The dangers of life run parallel to the dangers on the racing field, and when one death breaks up the team, how will they move on?

Beyond Light Years revolves around a computing major named Li Yu Chen (Chen Ruo Xuan) who is adept at solving problems using probability. He is extremely intelligent, kind-hearted and helpful but he comes off a bit uncaring and cold. He meets Xia Xiao Ci (Xu Jiao), a cheerful girl from an ordinary family and they start out with an immediate dislike for each other.
