Be it the actors or the plot, many drama productions have been heavily relying on big names in the past few years. Remaking popular Chinese novels or popular dramas from other countries has almost become the norm and big stars are often preferably casted instead of new talented faces.
Unlike Hunan TV, Dragon TV and Zhejiang Satellite TV haven’t published an official list of their purchased dramas yet, but we already have quite a few dramas rumored to air on these channels.
Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace depicts the life and later tragic end of Qingying (Zhou Xun), later known as Ruyi, whose story is based on that of Lady Ulanara, wife to Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (Wallace Huo).
