Since Xia Di (Xing Zhao Lin) lost his friend in an accident when they were climbing a mountain five years ago, the once confident and carefree young man has turned cautious and listless. But when he meets university student Lin Feng (Eleanor Lee), who dresses like a man and teaches mountain rock climbing, his heart slowly starts to melt.
Legend of the Phoenix is set in the fictional Eastern Liang dynasty. Acrobat Ye Ning Zhi (He Hong Shan) and her troupe enter the palace in order to perform for the empress dowager. Ning Zhi is unexpectedly framed by Princess Royal Pang Zhen (Liu Min), but talented strategist Wei Guang (Jeremy Tsui) luckily comes to her rescue, which leads Ning Zhi to fall for him. Two years later, Ning Zhi becomes a palace maid serving the empress (Cao Xi Wen). She witnesses a lot of injustice and decides to stand up against it, which impresses both the empress as well as the emperor (Cui Peng). With the help of a holy bell, Hua Lian enters Blood Demon’s mind and makes him kill his wife and then himself. Blood Demon’s daughter Shu Jing Rong (Crystal Yuan) is taken in by Bai Di and grows up together with Xue Gu’s favorite disciple, Xiao Shi Shui’s son Xiao Yi Qing (Qin Jun Jie). When Jing Rong discovers that her existence brings harm to others, she is filled with extreme guilt. She takes the Blood Rose Sword her father left behind and joins Listening Sword Tower which is now led by Yi Qing. Together, they fight against the evil Bai Yue sect and fall in love with each other in the process.
During the tumultuous Warlord Era, Shen Qi Nan (Wallace Huo)’s parents get killed. Qi Nan and his three siblings are separated while fleeing to Shanghai and only reunite as adults. In the meanwhile, Qi Nan has worked his way up from a simple worker to a famous construction manager. He and fellow construction manager Fu Han Jun (Yang Mi) join hands to build houses for the common people while incorporating traditional Chinese elements.
