The story is set in Republican Shanghai. Four young people with completely different experiences in life come together to break into the underground world of “Qianmen Jianghu” and solve mysterious cases. Su Zi Quan (Ning Huan Yu) is quick-witted and calls himself the “number one master sleuth on earth”. Despite his excellent memory, he can’t recall his early childhood. His biggest weakness, however, is that he’s allergic to women. Whenever he comes into physical contact with a woman, he has to sneeze. Tang Dai Yun (Shirley Jin) is a pure and kind-hearted, but also willful rich young lady. While looking for her lost older brother, she meets Zi Quan. Joining these two is the cold butler of the Tang household Chen Yi Ming (Li Dai Kun) who has great fighting skills and is only gentle to Dai Yun, and Zi Quan’s childhood friend Lu Zi Xiao (Zhu Ya), the only woman he’s not allergic to.

She travels to Shanghai to explore the local cuisines and rediscover her heritage. What she finds is an old family diary belonging to a woman named Duan Tian Ying (An Yue Xi), who lived during 1930s Shanghai. In the diary, Tian Ying talks about her torn feelings between the gentle Xu Xing Cheng (Kevin Chu) and the arrogant Luo Fu Sheng (Zhu Yi Long). However, Hong Lan (Eva Cheng) has a secret crush on Fu Sheng and Duan Tian Ci (Alen Fang) is in love with Tian Ying and will do anything to protect her. What will Jing Yun discover about her own history through this diary?
Green Love depicts the life and hardships of children who grew up in rural areas and left for the big cities to study and build a career, but later return home. Lin Shen (Guo Jing Fei) has set up a construction company in Shanghai, but then decides to go back to his hometown and tries to build up a business there. At the same time, the investor Chen Ling (Che Xiao) wants to escape from her busy life in the city and visits Lin Shen’s village. There she gets to know the simple and honest villagers and her heart settles down.
