Le Coup de Foudre is based on the author’s own story. Zhao Qiao Yi (Janice Wu) and Yan Mo (Zhang Yu Jian) are classmates in high school. One is a bad student and the other a top student. Although they don’t seem to have anything in common, they make a promise on the day before graduation to go study abroad together. Official English Novel Translations

A huge number of Chinese dramas and movies are based on novels, but only few of the original novels are available in English. I tried to compile all official English translations of Chinese novels that were adapted into dramas or movies into a list. You can find it in the main menu under “novels”. The list might not be complete yet, so if you happen to know of more novels, please let me know and I’ll add them to the list!

Chinese Dramas Available on DVD

Quite a lot of drama fans love to collect the DVDs of their favorites. Furthermore, there are also dramas which cannot be found on streaming sites and buying the DVDs is then the only way to watch them with subtitles. This is why I put together a list of Chinese drama DVDs with English subtitles that can be purchased on Amazon. You can find the list at the very right of the menu. I hope this will be helpful!

To avoid misunderstandings, please note that CdramaBase does not sell any DVDs. I simply searched for available official DVD boxes and put them together in this list in order to give people who might be interested in buying some an overview of what is available.

[Douban Ratings] The Best and Worst Dramas of 2017

The end of 2017 is nearing, so it’s time to take a look back at this year’s dramas. While the TV ratings and online ratings tell you how popular a drama was, they don’t necessarily tell you anything about the quality. So let’s see which are the highest and lowest rated dramas in Douban this year.

[Crowdfunding] Help getting more Cdramas subbed!

Chinese drama fans who don’t understand Chinese don’t have it easy: Only a tiny amount of Cdramas is available with subtitles. I have long thought about how I could change this situation. Buying licenses is unfortunately not in my capacities, but there’s another more simple way I would like to try: paying subbers!
I think everyone has noticed that more and more Cdramas are being uploaded on Youtube legally and they have the function to add subtitles. However, time has shown that not many volunteers appear to subtitle them. There are many popular dramas that we could watch, but can’t because nobody is subbing them, like Nothing Gold Can Stay, Season Love or Legend of the Dragon Pearl, just to name a few. So how can we make people sub them? By paying them for their hard work! I have quite a big network in the field and know enough people who could provide high quality subtitles in English, so finding subbers is a piece of cake. The only thing missing is the money. I’m only a private person like everyone else and have no way of paying subbers on my own. This means I need your help! If every fan would just contribute 1$, we could already finance the subbing of a handful of Cdramas! You’re of course also welcome to contribute more if you want. 🙂
Guys, let’s put our forces together and make this happen!
