Set in the 1930s in Shanghai. Magician Ye Fei (Jing Chao) wants to avenge his father which leads him on the path of saving the country through resisting Japan. He also joins hands with a mafia gang to fight against the Japanese and meets the daughter of the mafia boss Xiao Yao (Zhou Dong Yu).
